Janet Gershlick is a TV and radio broadcaster and presenter, performer - and author. She has lived, very happily, in Southwold for over 20 years.. She has written two very different ebooks - and is pleased to present both books - with their photos, delightful illustrations and attractive 'easy to read' layouts - to a wider audience. |
'Southwold - a place to love' has just over 200 pages packed with stories, photos and histories behind the names of some of the many beach huts of Southwold and the inscriptions on some of the towns benches and the small brass plaques on the pier. These stories will tell you about the people who have loved Southwold - and want to leave both a memory and a footprint. The stories will inform and delight...and the book is a great read. 'When The Sky Falls In' was written when Janet lost both her beloved mum and stepfather within three months of each other - and her life fell apart. She wrote notes each day on how life continued to be both the same and had changed forever - and observed how people reacted to her grief. Advice on what not to say to anyone who is grieving is discussed on the website. These notes were developed into a performance piece and presented very successfully both here and abroad - including the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and then expanded further to become this ebook. It is, Janet believes, a passionate, poignant and powerful honest look at the journey of grief and, with a little humour in the mix, tells the story of that journey - and how to survive its devastation. She adds: 'Ultimately it is also a wider story about the loss of people we love - parents, relationships, friends and relatives. All those we love and value and how we try to negotiate that journey'. It will evoke powerful emotions, thoughts, ideas and questions about life and loss. 'Everyone of us who has ever lost anyone dear to them can relate to it - but it is also ulimately life affirming and energising'. The ebook is full of photos, illustrations - and (a little!) advice!! |
